Meet Tami
Letβs start with a big one! What does music mean to you, Tami?
Music means the world to me. Iβm surrounded by it constantly and always seeking out special tunes. In fact, my decks & record collection are right behind me and thereβs even a recording studio in my flat in Glasgow!
What was the first album you ever bought?
Oooh! Iβm very proud to say my first vinyl record was Diana Ross βThe Bossβ 7 inch but my first first ever album was on Abba Gold on CD (remember those days?) and my fave track has to be βLay All Your Love on Meβ β a true ballad.
So, how did you get into DJβing?
I noticed a lot of my DJs in my friendship circles were dudes, this became much more noticeable when I looked around me and couldn't see any women on the decks at parties. I thought to myself⦠I've got a great record collection, why don't I give DJing a go? It's crazy to think that it's been almost 10 years since I bought my first pair of decks.
Youβve the opportunity to share a taxi with 3 of your favourite artists (living or dead). Who are you riding with, and what track is playing in the background?
I must admit, this isnβt a very difficult question to answer. I would love George Michael in the front seat and catch a glimpse of his aviators in the front mirror. Maybe he would wink at me. On either side in the back would be Whitney Houston and darling Diana Ross. Iβm imagining us driving in the picturesque Scottish highlands blasting out βI Wanna Dance with Somebodyβ with us all being Whitneyβs backing singers.
Describe your musical vibe in three words.
Gorgeous, Infectious and Pumping
You are a huge advocate for supporting marginalised communities and creating magical events that are safe and celebratory. We love that about you! Whatβs your most memorable DJ moment to date?
My best DJ set has to be at Glastonbury Festival last year, I co-run a stage called the Sistxrhood and played the last set of the night. It was a true gathering of so many special people who all went up on stage to dance to my set. It was that magic feeling that you get at a wedding when all your friends are together!
Whatβs your favourite unexpected floorfiller?
Iβve gotta say, Hung Up by Madonna is an absolute fave, starting slow with the tick tock and exploding into a HUGE disco house track.
Weβre delighted that youβre joining the Miss Mobile Disco family! What are you most looking forward to?
I canβt wait to share music which holds so much joy and meaning to me with couples on their wedding day. I would also like to add how excited I am about wearing my excellent collection of suits, pastel colours of course!
What can couples expect from you as their wedding DJ?
Couples should expect a vibey dance floor filled with an excellent eclectic selection of musical gems from across the decades. Iβll be serving up big dashes of disco, fusing flavours of funk and pouring in divine classics for dessert.
